#61-- America Lifts 5.2B Out of Poverty....Yes, China Included(2)
The United States has fostered immense global prosperity—now it’s time to build galactical prosperity!
The United States has fostered immense global prosperity—now it’s time to build galactical prosperity!
The United States has a long and impressive history of fostering an entrepreneurial spirit and promoting innovation and wealth creation. Since the 1940’s, the United States has helped lift ~5.2 billion people out of poverty through its various economic and security efforts. This is a testament to the country's economic strength and commitment to helping others.
What I love about America is that only in America do you have commercials for pharmaceuticals promoting to offset other pharmaceuticals' side effects! Only in America do you have some of the largest state and national lotteries worth hundreds of millions of dollars multiple times per week. Only in America do you have the largest national and local sports teams that unite and bring together the best and worst of loyalty. Go to a National Football League game at any city across this nation, and you will see a true dichotomy of this great nation. From painted faces to platform shoes to deep-fried Twinkies, sports and entertainment bring us together like no other. Only in America do you have the ability and system to do what you want when you want. If you want to stand on a street corner and complain about the current government, you can! If you do not agree with policies and laws, you can create a movement to change them or run for political office to represent the people!
(For all those Superbowl fans…..the year of the Eagle?)
“…..what we need is right in front of us…….”
America the Beautiful
The United States is a great nation with a strong economy, a commitment to freedom and democracy, and a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation. It is a place where anyone can come to pursue their dreams and work hard to achieve them. While there are certainly challenges and imperfections, the American spirit and determination have always prevailed, and I believe they will continue to do so in the future.
One of the driving forces behind America's success is its strong ecosystem, open market, and the "American Ethos." The United States is the largest venture capital market in the world, attracted $178 billion in VC funding which represents ~57% of the global total. The United States has the largest stock markets in the world where companies allow ownership to individuals and institutions. The United States has property ownership and rights. The United States has run by the people, for the people. This has been replicated, copied and adapted in other parts of the world, with varying degrees of success. The American Ethos represents the idea that anyone can achieve success through hard work and determination, and this ethos has inspired countless individuals to create and innovate.
In order to facilitate this entrepreneurial spirit, the United States has a set of rules for freedom that underpins its society. All functioning societies need rules to succeed, and the United States is no exception. The beauty of the system is that if you do not like the rules, you can be elected to change them. This fosters innovation and change over time as society adapts to new challenges.
Military Superiority | Economic Security
The United States is also characterized by a strong tradition of volunteer military and government service. Its Veterans and government workers are some of the most selfless people on the planet, willing to sacrifice their lives for people they do not even know. As Americans, we often take our freedoms for granted, such as freedom of speech/thought, open financial markets, free markets, legal systems, and human rights. Being grateful is a state of mind that has lifted many and should be appreciated.
The United States is built on small businesses. The ability for anyone to start, create, and build a business and way of life aligned with whatever passion drives the individual is a beautiful thing! The American Ethos enables this through an imperfect system that still provides opportunities for those who are willing to work hard and take risks. Small businesses are the backbone of the American economy and create jobs and wealth for countless individuals.
America has played an enormous global role building and expanding economic freedom to much of the world. From open trade agreements to open stock exchanges on wall street which enable capital to flow freely(maybe too freely….). From innovation of new technologies(useful ones and distracting ones!) to mass manufacturing, optimization of supply chains and the security of those money flows. Mistakes have been made, bad policies and good policies have been implemented. Execution has been flawless and fumbled depending on the glasses being worn.
**The data above is only up to 2022. 2023 and 2024 had significant increases in foreign aid, particularity due to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. Estimates would put this in the $100B+ range which is close to the WWII levels. The only problem, the money is not going to build the right things. Time for a reset**
That said, we need to continue to enhance, change, challenge our programs, leadership, and creativity. While organization are being broken and challenged, this is a great opportunity to lead and rebuild! I have full confidence in America’s ability to adapt, change, lead and again prove we can swim through the cave with no light. The time is now to shutter old programs, enhance existing ones and create news ways forward. If collaboration with some is not possible, move to the next one and find the opportunity. If some relationships are not working, move on to the next one. If one technology is not working, find another. Be competitive. Win what’s right.
God Bless America!
