Enter the Dragon
A look into the future....."Absorb what is useful, Discard what is not, Add what is uniquely your own."
Today we enter the dragon. Some may not care, others follow the mysterious spiritual characteristics to extremes. Whatever your preference, knowledge of your animal sign may lead to some interesting discussions and coincidental occurrences. Some take it to extremes with what they eat, how they arrange their home, the people they marry, the business partners they engage with, and the location of the world they live. The Chinese zodiac is represented by 12 animals around the lunar calendar vs the Gregorian calendar of the West.
In ancient Greek, Zodiac means “cycle of animals.” Each animal represents a different year in the cycle, and the cycle repeats every 12 years. The 12 animals are: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.
According to the Han Dynasty, all animals were invited to race. The first 12 animals would be selected. The current order is the way they finished. The rat being first as it hitched a ride on the back of the Ox, only to jump off at the finish. The characteristics of each animal is believed to provide insight into a person's personality, strengths, and weaknesses, as well as their destiny and fortune. Many people consult the Chinese horoscope to determine their compatibility with others, choose auspicious dates for important events, and gain guidance for their careers and personal lives.
In addition to the 12 animals, the Chinese horoscope also includes the five elements of wood, fire, earth, metal, and water, which are believed to influence the characteristics of each animal sign. The combination of the animal sign and the element associated with a person's birth year is believed to have a significant impact on their life and destiny.
